Security Issues
We will do our best to protect your information from hackers, but as you know, nothing is 100% safe these days.
As you fill out the questionnaire ask yourself what someone might do with that information.
Obviously there is not much they can do with account numbers unless you also include your password. We don't prompt for any passwords in the questionnaire, but if you really want to record them you can add them as notes.
For an added level of security you can choose to add all your details anonymously. After all; the people you intend to receive your details will already know your name and address.
Security:
Security and your computer:
Access to your information is protected through the use of passwords and technologies.
Passwords:
When you enrol with KeptSafe.com you provide a username and password that can later be used to log on to our secure facilities.
This username and password is linked to your customer reference number and consequently allows you to access your information.
We tightly control the management of usernames and passwords. One of the ways we do this is to ask you to provide a question and answer which we call shared secrets. Shared secrets are known only to you and KeptSafe.com. These secrets provide an additional method of verifying your identity
in case you forget your password or need other assistance.
We encourage you to change your password frequently. It is important that you use a password that cannot be easily guessed and that you do not let anyone else know your password.
What technologies are used to protect your data:
When you use our Online Services, information is sent between your browser and KeptSafe.com. The Information encrypted. Encryption together with usernames and passwords ensures the confidentiality, integrity and authenticity of the transmission.
"Strong Encryption" or SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) are the technical names for the encoding processes KeptSafe.com uses. This is a well-respected technology developed by
Netscape, Microsoft and RSA Inc that is supported by most browsers.
In the changing world of technology, we understand that while this technology is suitable for today, newer technologies may provide stronger security, better efficiency and
greater convenience in the future. Hence, we are constantly reviewing newer technologies as they mature and become available.
We are currently investigating options like digital certificates and direct connect.
How do I know my sessions are safely encrypted:
For Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator a Padlock Icon will appear in the left bottom corner of your browser window.
The Online Services pages also display the words "LOG OUT" that indicates that you are logged into the secure area of KeptSafe.com’s Online Services. The transactions you complete when the locked icon is displayed are secure.
